Found out via the Google Mobile Blog( not sure if it also shows up on the market updates ), GMaps for Android has been updated to 3.1.0, chagelog:
- voice search
- public transportation and walking directions
- google latitude improvements
- background location updates fixed
- avatar refresh fixed too
- experimental GLatitude messaging between users( with v3.1.0 installed ) with notification support
They also changed the way you access street view, instead of choosing from the map type list you have to tap and hold the anywhere in the map, not very intuitive imho.
